Interior Design Trends

As the New Year 2022 begins, there is nothing more important to interior design enthusiasts than knowing the home design trends to expect in the months ahead. We can’t help but wonder what the next 12 months have in store for home décor. In 2021, it was all about creating a space that reflects our feelings both visually and affectionately as we were forced to slow down and spend more time in our homes.

Interior Design Trends

This year, we’re expecting to see more interiors designed to reflect a sense of personality and comfort. We’ve had so much time to reflect on ourselves, and now we have the time to design every aspect of our lives from a more intentional place. Below, we’ve uncovered the top interior design trends to expect for the year 2022. If your new year’s resolution is to revamp your home’s interior, this is the perfect place to get inspired.

Very Peri – The Pantone Colour of the Year

For 2022, the global authority on colour, pantone, has picked a dynamic periwinkle blue with a vivifying violet red as its colour of the year. The colour described as the happiest and warmest hue of blue is expected to lead the pack in colour selections for interior decorations in 2022. It blends the tranquillity of blue with the energy and excitement of red.

Chocolate brown is back!

Lately, we’ve been seeing many clients embrace chocolate brown for their interiors. The oversaturation of grey in interior designs has made it less unique. People see light grey, dark grey, and more grey around every corner. Opting for a shade of chocolate brown feels unique and custom, and it is expected to be common in 2022.

Traditional Details

Traditional details are expected to make a big comeback to the interior decoration in 2022. With so many changes that have happened around the world in the past few years, it is not a thing of surprise that more and more people are craving a sense of comfort and timelessness in their homes. From furniture to antique pieces selection, we’re expecting more traditional picks.

Nature-Inspired Interiors

With more time spent indoors than ever before, there has been a resurgence in strengthening our connection with nature. We expect this trend to continue in the New Year 2022. Natural surfaces – marble and terracotta, used in backsplashes, bathtubs, furniture, and other decorative objects will be common in the year ahead. Bringing the outdoors indoor has also sparked an interest in indoor plants at home.

3D Artworks

As we continue to design our homes to reflect our styles and become more personal, a push towards 3D art is expected in 2022. People are looking for means to add life and whimsy to flat walls to liven up the mood of their interiors. Any art that can pop right off the wall and make the room more appealing is expected to be popular this year.

Multifunctional Furniture

As our spaces have become more multipurpose than ever before, investments in multifunctional furniture have surged high, and this trend is expected to continue this year. Despite being a step closer to normality, our homes continue to serve additional purposes than being our place of comfort and relaxation.

Final Thoughts

Interior design trends in 2022 are expected to be a step further than the last two years. We anticipate a surge of fresh ideas, colours, textures, and materials. More people want warmth, comfort, and airiness in their interior designs.
