A Contemporary Open-Plan Living and Dining Room in Calm Neutral Tones
This project brought a living and dining space together into a single light-filled room with a clear brief: calm tones, smart flow and stylish comfort. The design resolves both zones as part of one cohesive scheme, where every detail contributes to the overall sense of ease and proportion.
The Design Board
The moodboard draws together the colour palette, furniture selections, lighting and styling that informed the final scheme. Sculptural lighting, rounded furniture profiles, light textures and woven accents establish a language of contemporary softness that runs through every element of the design.
The Living Zone
A cream curved-arm sofa anchors the living area, setting a tone that is timeless, neutral and inviting. An understated arc floor lamp frames it from above, while a light rug creates subtle contrast with the walnut-toned flooring. Tonal abstract artwork and textured cushions introduce depth without disrupting the calm, and natural light from black-framed French doors keeps the mood fresh throughout the day.
The Dining Zone
The dining area carries the same softness as the living space. A six-seater table with rounded edges is paired with cream upholstered chairs and a classic glass pendant overhead. Framed abstract artworks in calming tones provide a clean focal point, while a large rug beneath the table defines the zone without interrupting the room’s flow.
The Layout Plan
The furniture layout plan mapped the balance between practical space planning and visual symmetry, defining the lounge and dining zones clearly while allowing them to interact without friction. In an open-plan interior, this kind of spatial clarity is what separates a room that looks good in photographs from one that genuinely works to live in.
