House Designer just turned six, and that feels meaningful to us. Not because of milestones or growth charts, but because six years is long enough to really understand what people need when they ask for help with their home. Long enough to see patterns, to make mistakes, to refine how we work, and to recognise what genuinely makes a difference to the people who trust us.
When we look back over the past six years, what stands out most is not the amazing projects themselves, but the moments in between. The conversations. The uncertainty at the start. The relief when things finally click. That is what has shaped House Designer.
Most people come to us feeling overwhelmed
People rarely come to us feeling confident. More often, they arrive with lots of ideas, saved images, opinions from everywhere, and a quiet worry about getting it wrong. They know something in their home isn’t working, but they don’t know where to begin or how to move forward without wasting time or money.
That feeling of overwhelm is something we recognise immediately. And after six years of working with homeowners all over the country, it’s the feeling our entire approach has been built around. Designing a home is rarely just about just design. It’s about reassurance, clarity, and helping people feel supported while they make decisions that feel personal and permanent.
How we bring clarity to the process
Clarity doesn’t come from rushing decisions or adding more ideas. It comes from slowing things down and focusing on what actually matters.
Our role is to help clients make sense of their space, their priorities, and their options, without pressure. We look at how the home is really used, what needs to work better day to day, and where decisions will have the biggest impact. Some things need attention now. Others can wait. Knowing the difference brings immediate relief.
This stage is about creating a clear framework for decisions. Once that is in place, everything else becomes easier. Choices feel more confident. The design process feels purposeful rather than overwhelming. We’re homeowners too, so we understand how personal these decisions feel and why getting them right matters.
We’ve learned over the years that our clients don’t need endless options to feel supported. They need clear thinking, honest guidance, and the reassurance that they’re moving in the right direction. That is how clarity is built, and it’s central to how we work at House Designer.
Style is rarely the real issue
Many clients arrive convinced they know their style. Modern. Classic. Minimal. Something very specific. Once we begin working together, that certainty often softens. What emerges instead is something more personal, shaped by how someone lives, what feels comfortable, and what genuinely works in their space.
Six years of designing real homes has taught us that style labels are helpful starting points, not destinations. The goal isn’t to fit a category. It’s to create a home that feels right for the people living in it. We always encourage clients to design what they love, not what’s trending. Trends move on. Beautiful homes stay.
Support doesn’t stop when the design is finished
One thing we’ve learned over time is that design doesn’t always end when the drawings are done.
For many clients, that is when new questions start to surface. How to order pieces. Where to save and where to invest. How to use trade discounts properly. Who to contact when something arrives or needs adjusting. These moments matter, and they can easily undo confidence if people feel left on their own.

Frances, Our Client Success Manager
Two years ago, we made a deliberate decision to strengthen this part of the experience by bringing Frances into the team as our Client Success Manager. Her role is simple but incredibly important. She is there to support clients beyond the design stage. To answer questions, help with shopping, guide clients through trade discounts, and make sure they feel looked after as they move from ideas into real decisions.
Clients regularly tell us how much this support means to them. It reassures them that they’re not on their own once the design is complete, and that there is still someone there to help them move forward with confidence.
That layer of care reflects how House Designer has grown. Not just in design expertise, but in understanding what clients actually need to feel supported from start to finish.
Staying human has been a conscious choice
The design industry has changed a lot over the past six years. Many services have become faster, more automated, and more platform-driven.
House Designer has deliberately stayed human. We are expertise led and tech enabled. Technology helps us work clearly and efficiently, but design decisions are always led by people. By designers who understand homes, and who understand how personal these decisions can feel. That balance has allowed us to grow without losing what matters.
A Year of recognition that truly meant something
Across the year, House Designer was featured in Country Living, The Spruce, Homebuilding and Renovating, House Beautiful, and Ideal Home. These features came from our ongoing work and voice in the industry, and they meant a great deal to us. Not because of the names themselves, but because these are publications homeowners genuinely trust when making decisions about their homes.
House Designer was awarded Interior Design Company of the Year at the London and South East England Prestige Awards 2026 to 2027. Being recognised in this way felt incredibly affirming, particularly as our work continues to focus on clarity, structure, and thoughtful design rather than noise or trends.
As if that was not enough, House Designer was also named one of the 17 Companies to Watch in 2026, recognised for redefining the future of technology and innovation. It felt like a quiet nod that our belief in well used technology and considered systems is resonating beyond the design world too.
The people behind House Designer

House Designer Team
House Designer has never been about one person alone. A small, committed team has grown alongside the business, and our designers have been with us since the early years. Their experience, care, and belief in thoughtful design shape every project we deliver.
We’re deeply grateful to them. Design is collaborative by nature, and having a team that values patience, clarity, and genuine care makes all the difference.
Giving Back as Part of Our Story
Since 2022, giving back has been part of how we run our business, not an afterthought. Each month, we donate a portion of our sales to Shelter, supporting their work to help people facing homelessness across England.
With housing insecurity affecting hundreds of thousands of people, we believe that having a safe place to call home is a basic human need. Supporting Shelter allows us to contribute in a small but meaningful way, reinforcing our belief that good design, at its heart, should always be rooted in care, responsibility, and people first.
And to the clients who trusted us
Finally, thank you to every client who has trusted House Designer over the past six years. A big thank you to those who came to us unsure. To those who asked questions. To those who trusted the process. And to those who returned when they were ready for the next stage of their home.
Six years on, we’re still here, still learning, and still deeply invested in the homes we help shape.
