Colour, texture and light as tools for transformation

Jade graduated with a First Class degree in Interior Design from De Montfort University and joined House Designer four years ago. Her design philosophy is rooted in the idea that the most powerful transformations in a home come not from structural change but from the precise use of colour, texture and lighting. A room can feel entirely different with the right palette, the right layering of materials, and a lighting scheme that responds to how the space is used at different times of day.

Her work draws on contemporary and Scandinavian design influences — styles that share a commitment to restraint, material quality, and the idea that a room should feel resolved rather than decorated. She is particularly skilled at helping clients who know they want change but are not yet sure of the direction, drawing out a clear design language from conversations, reference images and the way they already live.

She has written extensively for the House Designer blog on topics including style discovery, colour theory, Scandinavian and contemporary interior design, and how to approach a first home redesign without feeling overwhelmed by the choices involved.
